Ex-UFC Fighter Quinton Jackson Set For Boxing Debut Against Shannon Briggs

Quinton Jackson, the former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, makes his boxing debut against former Heavyweight boxing champion Shannon Briggs in Qatar on June 1.

The pair were first linked with a fight following a highly-publicized clash in 2022 when they were involved in a verbal war of words at the Triller presser for the Triad Combat event. Briggs even attempted to take down Jackson, setting the narrative for a fight.

It would take two more years before the bout was signed, but now it is here.

Jackson has not fought since 2019 when he was stopped by Fedor Emelianenko in the first round at Bellator 237. That capped off three defeats in his last four Bellator fights, with the sole win against Wanderlei Silva at Bellator 206. Briggs has not fought since 2016.

His career included big wins over George Foreman and Ray Mercer. But he fell short against Vitali Klitschko and Lennox Lewis. The 52-year-old is known for his antics of following his opponents, shouting ‘let’s go champ,’ but now he has the chance to have a big crossover fight in the Middle East.
