Ex-UFC Middleweight Champ Anderson Silva Will Box Chael Sonnen On June 15

Ex-UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva will box Chael Sonnen on June 15.

The fight will take place in Sao Paulo, Brazil, in a five-rounder at 216 pounds. The bout will be under two-minute rounds, marking Silva’s final fight in Brazil. Silva has boxed three times in his career. He has wins against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Tito Ortiz. However, his last boxing fight in 2022 was a unanimous decision loss against Jake Paul

Sonnen was offered $2 million to fight Mike Tyson. The fight never happened, as Tyson will now box Jake Paul on July 20. Sonnen has fought Anderson twice at UFC 117 and UFC 148. They were both for the UFC Middleweight Title. Silva was the champion on both occasions. He defeated Sonnen at UFC 117 in 2010 via a triangle armbar in a fifth-round submission. That fight was induced in the UFC Hall of Fame.

“The first fight between Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen was incredible. This is the fight that made Anderson a star and showed the world that Chael could compete with anyone in the division. This incredible dogfight had everything you want in a five-round title fight, and it will be an honor to induct this fight into the UFC Hall of Fame this summer,” Dana White said

The rematch happened two years later, with Silva knocking out Sonnen. Fans will be in for a treat if this fight is anywhere near like the other two.
