Ex WWE Star Swagger Signs To Bellator

Bellator MMA has had a strong connection to pro wrestling over the past few years, as Bellator fighters Tito Ortiz, Bobby Lashley, King Mo, and Chael Sonnen joining the ranks of Impact Wrestling, but now a former WWE champion joins the fold, as they have announced the signing of Jake Hager.

Hager, known professionally as Jack Swagger, has signed a contract with the MMA promotion to fight in their revived heavyweight division.

During his WWE tenure, Hager would hold the WWE’s world heavyweight and United States Championships, and take part in the controversial “Real American” series of vignettes, where he and manager Zeb Colter would ape the characteristics of the ever-growing Tea Party movement.

Hager was a highly touted prospect who was signed out of the University of Oklahoma, where Hager signed the single-season record for most pins in a season with 30 in 2006, and also would earn All-American honors in the 285 pound weight class.
