Fabricio Werdum’s KO Loss To Renan Ferreira Overturned

Fabricio Werdum no longer has a knockout loss to Renan Ferreira on his pro MMA record.

On May 6, Werdum and Ferreira collided in the main event of PFL 3. The action was held inside Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City, NJ. Controversy ended the event as Werdum was knocked out by Ferreira in the first round after referee Keith Peterson appeared to miss a tap from Ferreira.

The New Jersey State Athletic Control Board agrees with the finish being controversial as the decision has been made to officially change the result to a No Contest.

ESPN’s Marc Raimondi has the scoop.

“The PFL fight between Fabricio Werdum and Renan Ferreira from last Thursday night has been overturned to a No Contest by the New Jersey State Athletic Control Board.

“Very rare that an athletic commission overturns a result, let alone this quickly. Definitely a lot of work put in by Werdum’s manager Ali Abdelaziz with the NJSACB to get a resolution in this case four days later.”

Werdum’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz, took to his Twitter account to heap praise on the NJASC.

“I want to thank the New Jersey Athletic Commission, Mr. Nick Lembo who worked all weekend on overturning Fabricio Werdum’s decision to a NO Contest from his last week at PFL. I also want to thank PFL for quickly providing all of the necessary evidence.”
