One of MMA’s biggest storylines in 2015 is the comeback of Fedor Emelianenko. Plenty of promotions were rumored to be in the bidding for the services of ‘The Lost Emperor’ but eventually the Russian heavyweight signed with Nobuyuki Sakakibara’s Rizin Fighting Federation (RFF).
Before he makes his RFF debut, the MMA legend will also compete in a Combat Sambo tournament in Monaco. As Karim Zidan translates:
The four-time combat sambo champion will compete in the World Masters Tournament in Sambo and Judo, which takes place November 25th in Monaco. Tass.ru, who reached out to the press service of the competition, first reported the news.
"Fedor has already confirmed his participation in the competition", said the press-service.
The tournament will feature competitors from France, the United States and Saudi Arabia. The 1984 Olympic champion in Judo and member of the Executive Committee of the International Judo Federation, Yasuhiro Yamashita, will also compete at the tournament.
Members of the Monaco royal family, the Saudi Arabia royal family, as well as the "leaders of the UN, the Council of Europe, the World Bank and others" will likely attend the event.
Emelianenko is set to make his RFF debut on New Year’s Eve in Japan. His opponent, although yet to be confirmed, is rumored to be unknown kickboxer Jaideep Singh.
