Fedor Emelianenko Turns 45 Less Than A Month Before Bellator Main Event Fight – September 28, 1976 (This Day In MMA History)

Fedor “The Last Emperor” Emelianenko turns 45 today.

Emelianenko, a Russian heavyweight mixed martial artist, sambist and judoka, has won championships in multiple sports. He is most known for being the reigning champion at Pride Fighting Championships, FIAS World Combat Sambo Championship and Russian Judo Federation National Championship (bronze). He currently competes in Rizin Fighting Federation and Bellator.

He is scheduled for a homecoming matchup against Tim Johnson on October 23 in Bellator’s main event. He is coming out of a three-year hiatus.

The 45-year-old has scored wins over four former UFC champions.

He was named top MMA fighter of the 2000s by Sports Illustrated.
