Felice Herrig Reportedly Returns Against Virna Jandiroba Following A Two-Year Absence
A multi-sport athlete will be looking to get back into the octagon for the first time since 2018. According to a report by ESPN, Felice Herrig will return to action on August 15 to face Virna Jandiroba. That date happens to coincide with UFC 252.
Herrig (14-8) is currently on a two-fight losing streak. Her last two fights in 2018 were decision-losses against Karolina Kowalkiewicz and Michelle Waterson. Following the Waterson bout at UFC 229, Herrig tore her ACL, requiring surgery. Before injuring herself, Herrig was supposed to face Yan Xiaonan at UFC 238.
Herrig is a former kickboxer, competing in the early 2000s. After fighting for XFC and Bellator, Herrig joined The Ultimate Fighter in 2014, where she beat Lisa Ellis via submission in the finale. “Lil Bulldog” is 5-3 the UFC.
A former Invicta FC Strawweight Champion, Jandiroba (15-1) lost her first fight and UFC debut in April 2019 against Carla Esparza. She rebounded back in December with a win over Mallory Martin via submission.
There is no set location for UFC 252, but Las Vegas and “Fight Island” are possibilities. The main event will be a UFC Heavyweight Title trilogy bout between Daniel Cormier and Stipe Miocic.
