As reported by BJPenn.com, Ferguson has been calling for McGregor to “vacate or defend” the undisputed title since winning the interim title against Kevin Lee in late 2017 at UFC 216 in Detroit.
And while McGregor has no defined timeline for return, many including Dana White do not see him returning before UFC 223, when Ferguson is set to defend against undefeated Khabib Nurmagomedov, and more than likely will see McGregor return in September. The current thinking among many in the MMA community is that White will be forced to strip the title off the company’s biggest attraction prior to the fight, but has not made the move as of yet.
