Tony Ferguson has confirmed that he is not going to retire as he expects to fight next year.
Ferguson’s last fight was in August, as he faced off against Michael Chiesa. Prior to the fight, Dana White confirmed the 40 year old would retire regardless of the result. Ferguson lost the fight, losing a first round submission via a rear naked choke. That was his eighth defeat in the row. After the fight, Ferguson left one glove in the Octagon indicating that he was going to retire.
However, he then changed his mind. In his post fight presser, he said he would continue fighting. His last win was against Donald Cerrone at UFC 238 in 2019. He made it clear that he wants to end his eight fight losing streak. But at the age of 40, there are dangers that he risks fighting for too long. Ferguson, though, outlined his future plans.

“We’re gonna take the rest of this season and figure some things out and we’re coming back hard either January or February… I’m too old to retire.”
