Fight Between Jermall Charlo And Jaime Mungia Called Off
Even though there is still a little possibility that the fight can take place this year, the fight between Jermall Charlo (32-0, 22 KO) and Jaime Mungia (39-0, 31 KO) is now called off for the summer.
According to ESPN’s Mike Coppinger, there were disagreements related to US-based broadcasting rights between Premier Boxing champions and Golden Boy promotions.
PBC, who have Charlo on their side, had made their minds about Showtime pay-per-view. Moreover, they had the intention of giving DAZN, partner of Golden Boy, the rights in Mexico and the UK.
But Golden Boy didn’t meet the deadline and the talks broke down.
According to the WBC, there will be a fight between Mungia and Carlos Adames (21-1, 16 KO) to determine the final eliminator for Charlo’s belt.
Adames is another PBC fighter that has made gigantic strides over the past few months. The purse bid for that is scheduled on Tuesday, as the winner will have the opportunity to fight.
As there are strong rumors about Demetrius Andrade vacating the WBO middleweight title in the near future, Mungia has a strong chance to have a shot at that belt.
The Mexican fighter is ranked as the No.1 WBO contender as per their last update.
