Fighting Words: What Does Keith Thurman Have To Say About Terence Crawford?
Keith Thurman has a lot to say about Terence Crawford.
Thurman is a former WBC and WBA (Super) Welterweight Champion. He hasn’t competed since July 20, 2019, when he lost his WBA gold to Manny Pacquiao via split decision. Thurman is hoping to rebound whenever he gets the chance to step back inside the boxing ring.
Appearing on Brian Custer’s Last Stand Podcast, Thurman let it be known that all Crawford and Top Rank Boxing have to do is send him the contract for a WBO Welterweight Title fight and he’s all in (h/t World Boxing News).
“Send the contract, send the contract, send the contract, and let me post it on Instagram and sign it live baby, sign it live. I’ll do my first signing live baby. They don’t know me. Crawford calling me out like that and saying that about me, you don’t know me, man. You don’t know what kind of contracts I’ve had in my face. I’ve never been presented with a contract with a real fight. That’s petty at the end of the day.”
Thurman went on to say that he’d much rather fight Crawford than current WBC and IBF Welterweight Champion Errol Spence Jr. For Thurman, it boils down to his feud with Crawford becoming more personal. Thurman also listed off elite welterweights that Crawford hasn’t competed against.
Thurman had been out of action due to an arthritic issue in his left hand. He believes the issue caused him to have performances that weren’t up to his standards in 2019.
