Florida To Host Anderson Silva Vs Tito Ortiz, Vitor Belfort-Evander Holyfield Fights
The Triller Fight Club event that included the likes of Anderson Silva and Vito Belfort has now been moved to Florida’s Hollywood from California after Oscar De La Hoya tested positive for Covid-19.
Boxing legend Evander Holyfield has stepped in on short notice to replace De La Hoya in the showdown against MMA ace Vito Belfort. The venue was changed following the California State Athletic Commission’s decision of sanctioning the 58-year-old Holyfield in the fight.
Here’s the fight card for September 11:
- Evander Holyfield vs Vitor Belfort
- Tito Ortiz vs Anderson Silva
- David Haye vs Joe Fournier
- Andy Vences vs Jono Carroll
Triller hasn’t yet confirmed if the Holyfield-Belfort fight will be a pro fight or an exhibition match. Their fight will reportedly consist of eight two-minute rounds.
The Golden Boy and Belfort had gone back and forth on several occasions in the buildup to their fight. They had been trading barbs over social media, interviews and press conferences.
While De La Hoya, 48, is 10 years younger than Holyfield, his exit from the match-up may make things easy for the former UFC champion. Holyfield looks in good shape, but his reflexes and conditioning is expected to be a tad slower than the Golden Boy.
