Floyd Mayweather Vs. Aaron Chalmers Flops As Fans Fail To Turn Up – ‘He’s Done, It’s Over’
Floyd Mayweather was victorious in his exhibition bout against Geordie Shore’s Aaron Chalmers on points, and his undefeated record remains intact, but not everyone was happy.
On February 25th, 2023, one of boxing’s greatest-ever fighters failed to light up the city, evidenced by the lack of spectators in attendance, making it clear that not many people were interested in the event.
Minutes before the much-anticipated fight of the 46-year-old, the 20,000-capacity 02 Arena in London was far from full. Meanwhile, the co-main event was postponed for over an hour.
Mayweather did whatever he could to gain the support of the British audience. He sported the Union Jack on his shorts and had a pair of blue gloves with red stitching to match the colors of the flag.
Mayweather showed he still had quick hands, but Chalmers was still in good spirits by the end of the eighth round. With that being said, this is what Mayweather had to say:
“I would like to thank all the fans in the UK. The United Kingdom is unbelievable – the UK is becoming the Mecca of boxing. Me and Aaron Chalmers had a chance to come together and we had fun for eight rounds. If the UK fans want me to come back, I’m coming back.”
Social Media Reaction
The sentiment on social media, though, was far from complimentary.
Floyd Mayweather had a fight yesterday? I didn't even know that…Floyd got way too much money and legacy to be doing stupid exhibition bouts. It's time to let the bright lights fade and enjoy retirement.

You’re right to a point in my opinion. I think he should had NEVER made exhibition fight to begin with, those type of CIRCUS 🎪 performances are for those that didn’t make money throughout their career. I think people just had enough of him and his GREED! He’s done it’s OVER…..
