Former Bellator Featherweight Champ Daniel Straus Is Back
After a two-year layoff, Daniel Straus is returning to the octagon.
Straus (26-9-0) will fight at the XMMA 3 at the Watsco Center in Miami, Florida. He will be facing fellow 37-year-old fighter Keith Richardson (19-11-0).
The last time Straus fought back was in 2019 against Derek Campos where he suffered a unanimous decision loss.
The 37-year-old suffered three losses in his previous five contests.
In February, reports revealed that Straus – whose legal name is Daniel Lamont Mason-Straus – was arrested on a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. His bond was set at $100,000.
It’s unclear if he was found guilty of the charge and what is the status of the incident.
After suffering losses and being arrested, Bellator announced that Straus was not a member of Bellator anymore.
Richardson’s last contest was in 2019.
He managed to earn a first-round submission victory against Ma’shack Adams. Eleven out of his wins are via submissions. Still, he also suffered five submissions and five TKO/KO victories in his professional MMA career.
XMMA 3 is stuck with former UFC fighters and notable names.
John Dodson will headline the event against former UFC Fighter Cody Gibson. Also, former UFC fighters Nate Marquardt and John Howard will share the cage at XMMA 3.
