Former Foes Patch Up Relationship
UFC Hall of Famer and former featherweight champion Jose Aldo (32-10-0) opened up about the healing of his relationship with Conor McGregor (22-6-0) following their intense rivalry.
The animosity between the two peaked during the UFC 194 world tour, with McGregor famously snatching Aldo’s belt during a press conference in Dublin. The Brazilian was then knocked out in just 13 seconds by Conor on December 12, 2015, ending a decade-long unbeaten streak, as he lost his featherweight belt.
In the years following, the two continued to trade verbals, but the tone began to shift as both fighters matured. Aldo revealed that the turning point occurred behind the scenes. Aldo noted that McGregor was one of the first people to send him a private message of support following his initial retirement in 2022, and Aldo reached out to Conor after he said he had been “saved” and is now turning his life around to congratulate him.
“What is my relationship with Conor like now? It’s very good,” Aldo told Jackpot City Casino. Brazilian fans feel strongly because of how our fight went and everything that happened. But I have a good relationship with him, and I always wish him the best,” Aldo said
