Former GGG Opponent Arrested For Domestic Battery
Vanes Martirosyan, who briefly shot to fame as the man who replaced Canelo Alvarez in a fight against Gennadiy Golovkin last year, was arrested earlier in September in connection with a domestic disturbance.
Martirosyan, 33, was arrested on September 15th following an argument with his wife in their Glendale, California home.
Per TMZ, Martirosyan and his wife’s altercation started verbally, but the former middleweight title challenger grabbed his wife by the arm and allegedly to headbutt her in the face.
The woman was able to escape and was found by Police after a call to the home with a bruise on her arm and very visual nose injuries.
While she declined medical aid, a police report was taken, leading to Martirosyan being arrested the next morning for felony domestic violence.
He would be released on a $50,000 bond later that day, with no word on an eventual court appearance.
Martirosyan has not been seen in the ring since losing to Golovkin in May of last year by a second-round knockout.
