Former GLORY Kickboxing Champion Makes Victorious MMA Debut
Simon Marcus made his MMA debut.
Marcus (1-0) notched his first MMA victory at Unified MMA 42 by technical decision against Anton Tokarchuk (4-6-1) with scorecards all 20-18 in Enoch, Alberta, Canada.
Marcus, 35, competed at a catchweight of 195 pounds, 25 pounds more than intended welterweight.
Despite a significant size disadvantage, Marcus dominated Tokarchuk and demonstrated his ability on the ground.
Marcus’ victory came in his first fight in 2018.
Marcus started his MMA experience six months ago after a disastrous introduction into the world of boxing due to cancellations.
Marcus told MMA Junkie before the bout that he wants to follow the footsteps of his former kickboxing rival Alex Perreira and head to the UFC.
Marcus, a previous muay Thai and GLORY Kickboxing world champion, has victories against MMA stars such as Israel Adesanya, Dustin Jacoby and Joe Schilling, amongst many others.
Before Friday’s match, he had a combined record of 55-5-1.
