Former MMA Fighter Shot & Killed During Domestic Dispute
A former MMA veteran was killed on Monday night, April 6.
Tyler East, 30, was involved in a domestic dispute in Los Lunas, New Mexico. According to a report from KOB4, East allegedly shot his girlfriend and dragged her out of a home. New Mexico State Police say that a person who was in the home ended up shooting and killing East near Highway 314. That person fled the scene.
The female who was shot is said to be recovering in a hospital in Albuquerque. Her condition is listed as stable.
East has a history of run-ins with the law (via MMAJunkie). Back in 2012, East’s ex-girlfriend accused him of being on a “cocaine binge.” She claimed East physically assaulted her. East was indicted on charges of kidnapping, aggravated burglary, aggravated battery, and bribery of a witness.
East began his pro MMA career back in April 2009. This was the same year he was accused of beating down a Belen High School student in gym class. He ended up amassing a record of 15-5. East’s last pro bout took place back in October 2016. He was defeated at the hands of Brian Heden.
East competed for various promotions throughout his career. He was seen fighting under Bellator, King of the Cage, and Legacy FC.
