Former MMA Fighter Takes Down Knife-Wielding Attacker

Former MMA fighter Javier Baez found himself being attacked by a perpetrator, Omar Marrero, with a knife.

According to reports, the incident took place on November 1st, 2023, as Baez was forced to defend himself in a parking lot against the 50-year-old attacker at Cutler Bay, Fla., Miami-Dade county. In the video below, Baez managed to de-escalate the situation by avoiding the knife before going on to slam the attacker and then put him in an arm-triangle. Thereafter, the Miami-Dade Police apprehended the defendant who has now been charged with two offenses.

And now that the dust has settled down somewhat, Baez recalled the incident which on any other day could have gotten out of hand.

“Guy was out there screaming on the phone, literally was fighting for a while with some woman. He tapped on my door window. I told him to leave me alone, and then he came at me with a knife. I told him to leave me alone. I’m calling the cops. I hope he doesn’t break my window.

“That’s all I cared about…When you practice every day, you don’t think about it. Put his belly to the floor, put my knee in his back, and called the cops. Once I started putting the choke in, he kind of just let [the knife] go. Because nobody’s worried about anything else but breathing when you’re losing air,” Baez
