Former NFL QB Johnny Manziel Wins MMA Debut

Former NFL quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel made his MMA debut at the UFC Apex Center in Las Vegas last Saturday, stopping social media personality Bob Menery in the first round before announcing it would likely be his only fight.

Manziel, 33, landed body kicks, secured a takedown and was throwing hard ground strikes when the referee waved off the contest at 2:16 of the opening round: “This was good enough for one time,” Manziel said

Manziel was a first-round NFL Draft pick of the Cleveland Browns in 2014 but lasted just two seasons, throwing for 1,675 yards and seven touchdowns before being released during the 2016 offseason. He later played in the Canadian Football League.
