Former Three-Time WBA Junior Middleweight Champion Anthony Mundine In Talks For A Potential Exhibition With Manny Pacquiao

On Tuesday, 20th December, it was revealed by the 47-year-old that he was in talks for a surprising comeback to the boxing world to fight the Filipino champion in a contest in Papua New Guinea.

The ex-three-time WBA junior middleweight champion posted a message on Instagram confirming the following: “Something crazy has just happened when I went to PNG. I’ve been asked to do an exhibition and promote the sport of boxing over there (with) none other than the eight-time world boxing champion Manny ‘PacMan’ Pacquiao.

“Once things are all signed on the dotted line, you’ll see The Man back again. I’m gonna have to start training and sharpen the tools and the skill box. It’s been a while.”

The 44-year-old Pacman’s last exhibition match went down with YouTuber DK Yoo. As for Mundine, he was recently defeated in a single round by Michael Zerafa and chose to retire following his 2021 loss, which was his eleventh professional defeat.

The boxing match between Pacquiao and Yoo did not attract as much attention from fans as was anticipated, leading to the bout being labelled a “flop”. So the question remaining is, will this one go down a treat?

If all goes as anticipated, the aim is to have this done by July.
