Former UFC Fighter Arrested Over Allegedly Assaulting Officer

He was released on a $5,000 bail.

Former UFC fighter Tony Martin was arrested on December 21, 2022 in Florida.

According to the reports, deputies charged Martin with assault on a law enforcement officer. The American fought for the UFC between 2014 and 2020.

According to the police reports provided to the Bloody Elbow, authorities from Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call from 911 at an address in Bonita Springs.

Once the deputies identified the Bonita Springs address, they saw a female crying in a black Ford Expedition. The female told the deputies that she wanted to leave.

While speaking to the woman, a white male came to the deputies in the front yard of the residence. He was reported to be Martin, who shouted abuse at the deputies and wanted them to get out of his property.

Although the deputies informed him about a potential investigation, Martin didn’t seem to care. Although the deputies showed aggression, they later realized that the American was a professional MMA fighter. Hence, they feared physical harm from him.

Martin was eventually arrested at 5:16 a.m. at the Lee County Justice Center. The 33-year-old was bonded out of custody later in the day, with the bail set at $5,000.
