Former UFC Heavyweight Greg Hardy Misses Weight By 26 Pounds

Greg Hardy parted ways with the UFC in 2022, but he continued his combat sports career, most recently booking a fight in Serbia where he missed weight by 26 pounds on Friday.

While the match will move forward as planned, the weight difference is a staggering 51-pounds with Hardy coming in at 291. His opponent, another former UFC competitor, Darko “The Hammer” Stošić, weighed well under the 265-pound heavyweight limit at 239.6.

The former NFL defensive end and heavyweight MMA competitor began his fighting career strongly, following six seasons playing professional football. Hardy made his professional MMA debut on Dana White’s Contender Series, where he went 2-0 before hitting a major setback in his first UFC appearance, losing by disqualification to Allen Crowder because of an illegal knee. Hardy bounced back and won four of his next six matches before finding himself on a three-fight skid that put an end to his time in the promotion.

Hardy went on to make an appearance in BKFC, but has mostly stuck to exhibition boxing matches until earlier this year when he returned to MMA and won the Peak Fighting heavyweight title. He has his first defense of the belt scheduled for this July in Frisco, Texas.

Despite having a match in Texas not long from now, Hardy is also competing with Fight Nation Championship in Serbia this weekend, where he hit the scales at 26 pounds over the heavyweight limit for his match with another former UFC competitor Darko “The Hammer” Stošić. Interestingly, through his ten-fight tenure with the UFC, Hardy made weight for every match.

132 kilos over Greg Hardy’s weight, 12 above the heavyweight limit. Absolute disgrace. Darko will send him back to America in a coffin.
