Four UFC Fighters Suspended For Failed Drug Tests
The Nevada State Athletic Commission has handed out suspensions to four UFC fighters.
Three of those fighters popped for cannabis while the other was flagged for amphetamines. The fighters caught using cannabis are Jamahal Hill, Tim Elliott, and Luis Pena. Deron Winn tested positive for amphetamines.
Hill initially scored a first-round TKO victory over Klidson Abreu back on May 30. That result has been overturned to a No Contest. Hill has been suspended for six months. In addition, he’s been fined 15-percent of his fight purse.
Elliott and Pena received the same suspensions and fines. Both men will sit on the sidelines for four and a half months and have been fined 15-percent of their fight purse. This suspension is in connection to Elliott’s May 30 bout with Brandon Royval, not his matchup on July 16 with Ryan Benoit. Pena lost his last outing via submission to Khama Worthy.
Winn was given the lengthiest suspension of any of the fighters on this list. He was handed a nine-month sit and fined $1,800. Winn was submitted in his last outing via rear-naked choke against Gerald Meerschaert at UFC 248 back on March 7. It was the first time Winn had been stopped in his pro MMA career.
