France And Japan Net Two Golds In Paris

The 2019 season would see the host-nation walk away with gold on Sunday, as France would net two of the top spots in the final day of the  2019 Karate 1-Premier League Paris.

In two of the day’s final three events, the home country would net victory, as Steven Dacosta and Gwendoline Philippe would stand on top of the medal stand on Sunday.

Dacosta would sweep Italy’s Luca Maresca in the finals of the Male Kumite -67kg, while Philippe would take the final of the Female Kumite -61kg 6-3, scoring a “Yuko” to finish off Egyptian Giana Lotfy.

Japan would grab two gold medals of their own on Sunday, with Ryo Kiyuna defeating Damian Quintero of Spain, in the Male Kata category, and Kiyo Shimizu would gain revenge on Sandra Sanchez, defeating the Spanish star in a rematch of the World Championship finals in Female Kata.
