Francis Ngannou Is Now A Free Agent

Francis Ngannou is now a free agent as the PFL has announced they have parted ways with Ngannou after their three-year agreement, that saw Ngannou only compete ONCE for the promotion.

After walking away from the UFC in January 2023 while still being their heavyweight champion, Ngannou signed with the PFL in May 2023, but his signing resulted in only a single appearance inside the cage when Ngannou stopped Renan Ferreira in the very first round of their bout in October 2024.

Ngannou’s jump to the PFL also granted him a leadership role in PFL Africa and the freedom to pursue professional boxing fights, which he did against Tyson Fury (who he nearly beat) and Anthony Joshua, who knocked him out in the second round in March 2024, which was his last competitive fight of any kind.

The decision to part ways comes after the passing of Ngannou’s 15-month-old son, Kobe, in 2024. and his motorcycle accident in Cameroon that resulted in the death of a 17-year-old girl last year. Whether Ngannou decides to return to the cage or to the ring remains to be seen.
