Francis Ngannou Said Tyson Fury Can’t Be Discarded From The Negotiations
Francis Ngannou (17-3-0) still believes that he can strike a new deal with UFC.
The Cameroonian fighter said that a fight against Tyson Fury must be on the table for him. Ngannou says that his contract talks will always be incomplete without the mention of the WBC and The Ring heavyweight champion.
“If UFC wants to negotiate my contract, they have to pay importance to the Tyson Fury fight at all costs. I am not suggesting they can do this, I am ordering them. If I sign another contract now, I will be completely screwed,” Ngannou said.
“I cannot be thinking about a new contract at this moment. Therefore, we have to decide what is the best for my career going forward,” Ngannou added.
Ngannou was on top of the world in March 2021, when he won the UFC heavyweight championship.
The 35-year-old secured a second-round knockout against Stipe Miocic. 10 months later, he defended the title against Ciryl Gane.
According to Cameroon’s contract, the fight against Gane was the last fight with the promotion. With the UFC deals coming to an end, there are rumors about Ngannou walking away from the promotion in January 2023.
He is likely to be sidelined for about six more months after undergoing knee surgery for injuries he sustained prior to his title defense against Gane.
