Frank Warren: I Genuinely Believe Tyson Fury Will Stop Anthony Joshua
Queensberry Promotions’ Frank Warren feels Tyson Fury has what it takes to finish Anthony Joshua.
Fight fans have been highly anticipating a showdown between Fury and Joshua. Fury is the WBC Heavyweight Champion, while Joshua holds the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO gold. Joshua is set to put his gold on the line against Kubrat Pulev on December 12.
Fury initially wanted to return to action on December 5 but it wasn’t feasible. As a result, “The Gypsy King” is looking to step back inside the ring in 2021 for one more fight before taking on Joshua.
During an interview with Standard Sport, Warren said he believes Fury can take “AJ” out within the first six rounds.
“I don’t see him losing to Joshua. You look at them and think who’s the better boxer? Tyson Fury. Who’s got the better jab? Tyson Fury. Who’s the better mover? Tyson Fury. Who’s got the better punch? Tyson showed in the last fight with [Deontay] Wilder what he’s capable of. I really think that if we get it on, I genuinely believe he will stop Joshua, and in the first half of the fight, too.”
Fury and Joshua have agreed in principle to two bouts. Matchroom Boxing’s Eddie Hearn is hoping that at least one of those fights will take place in the UK.
At the moment, Fury’s roadblock could be the situation with Deontay Wilder. “The Gypsy King’s” team claims Wilder’s rematch clause expired. “The Bronze Bomber” denies this and has threatened to take legal action if he doesn’t get the trilogy fight.
