Freddie Roach Makes Bold Prediction For Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr.

Renowned boxing trainer Freddie Roach is making a bold prediction on the exhibition bout between Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr.

Tyson and Jones will collide on November 28. The two will be competing for the specially made WBC Frontline Battle Title. Their fight will take place inside the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. The bout will be sanctioned by the California State Athletic Commission.

In a chat with Press Box PR, Roach gave his prediction for the Tyson vs. Jones matchup.

“I spoke with Mike Tyson about ten days ago and I told him he doesn’t know the meaning of the word ‘exhibition.’ He laughed but he knew what I meant. Mike is an old school fighter who only has one gear – forward.

“And I know when that bell rings, Mike will be swinging for the fences. I think Mike knocks Roy Jones out. But I did warn Mike that Roy has to be careful of Roy’s left to the body. That’s the punch Roy used to knock out Virgil Hill.”

Tyson hasn’t been inside the boxing ring since an exhibition bout against Corey Sanders back in 2006. As for Jones, he last competed in a pro bout on February 8, 2018. He defeated Scott Sigmon via unanimous decision to capture the WBU (German version) Cruiserweight Title.

Tyson vs. Jones was originally scheduled to take place on September 12. That plan changed as Tyson’s team cited better marketing opportunities with the November 28 date. Jones believes the real reason is that Tyson needed more than six weeks to prepare.
