Freddie Roach Said If Manny Pacquiao Unretires, He Hopes To Be Chosen As Trainer Again

If Manny Pacquiao ever decided to unretire, Freddie Roach would be by his side.

That’s what the legendary trainer told Boxing Scene. He added that though Pacquiao has nothing left to prove, he would still be in his corner.

“I think he’s finished [with boxing],” Roach said.

“I don’t think he has anything more to prove. He’s done everything he can, I can feel. He doesn’t owe anything to anybody.”

“If he does wanna come back and fight again, I hope he picks me as a trainer.”

Pacquiao, 43, returns to action in an exhibition match in December against South Korean martial artists and YouTuber DK Yoo.

But Roach revealed that his wife does not want him to fight again, adding that “What does he have to prove? He’s already been there.”

Pacquiao is the only eight-division world boxing champion and is the only boxer to hold world championships across four decades.

He’s built a record of 62 wins, 39 knockouts, eight losses and two draws. He hung up his gloves after his unanimous decision loss to Yordenis Ugas in August 2021.
