Fulton And Inoue Make Weight, A Tense Staredown And More

Stephen Fulton and Naoya Inoue are set to face each other on July 25th, 2023, in a super-bantamweight clash from the Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan.

The three-division world champion Inoue arrives into the bout after having become the undisputed champion at bantamweight for the first time in 50 years.

A commanding victory over Paul Butler for the WBO title created history. The Japanese star has an incredible 24 wins, with 21 by way of knockout.

In contrast, Fulton is the current unified super-bantamweight champion. Big wins over Brandon Figueroa, Daniel Roman and Angelo Leo have made Fulton the top dog in the division as he puts his WBO and WBC titles on the line.

Both fighters made weight as Fulton came in at 121.9 pounds, compared to Inoue’s 121.7 pounds, the latter which was a career-high.

Thereafter, the two fighters had a long staredown without removing eye contact. While it was devoid of any pushing and shoving, this is a bout where one fighter will lose their undefeated record.
