Fundora’s Next Fight Plans

WBC super welterweight champion Sebastian Fundora (24-1-1) is planning to make his ring return in September or October, with his promoter Sampson Lewkowicz confirming the timeline.

Fundora is coming off a sixth-round stoppage win over former unified welterweight champion Keith Thurman in March, as he retained his title. Fundora became the first man to stop Thurman, and is now eyeing unification fights.

A bout with the winner of Xander Zayas vs. Jaron Ennis — scheduled for June 27 in Brooklyn, NY with the WBA and WBO titles on the line — is one option, while IBF titleholder Josh Kelly is another opponent possibility.

The third option is Vergil Ortiz Jr., however, Ortiz’s career is currently at a standstill due to his legal dispute with Oscar De la Hoya’s Golden Boy promotions so that would have to be cleared up before Ortiz can challenge Fundora.

Nevertheless, Fundora has made it clear he wants to remain active against top level opposition while attempting to unify the 154-pound division in the process.
