Bellator middleweight Aaron Jeffery has started a new fundraising campaign in the name of his late friend, Elias Theodorou.
Theodorou died in September after a long battle with liver cancer. The news of his death came as a shock to the MMA community as his illness was only known to his inner circle.
Theodorou in collaboration with his family and friends set up The Theodorou Foundation and Higher Access organizations before his death. The organization has so far raised over $35,000 and is expected to generate more money for the noble cause.
‘Movember’ is a month-long campaign to promote men’s health causes and raise awareness on various health-related issues. This includes prostate cancer which is a major problem faced by the native Americans.
His teammate and current Bellator Middleweight Aaron Jeffery has initiated the Movember campaign in the loving memory of his late friend. He notified of this initiation in his tweet.
“Today the Elias Theodorou tribute shirt goes on the site,” Jeffery tweeted Tuesday.
“The first day of Movember a month of bringing awareness to men’s health and specifically cancer. Proceeds from shirt sales will go to The Theodorou Foundation, the non-profit set up in his name.”
Theodorou boasted a record of 19-3 and was undefeated in his last 3 bouts. His most recent win came against Bryan Baker at Colorado Combat Club 10 last December.
