Fury Batters and Stops Schwarz in Two

Tyson Fury put on a quick, but an absolute clinic in his showdown with Tom Schwarz, stopping the previously-undefeated German boxer in the main event of a Top Rank Boxing card at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Fury came out circling Schwarz in the opening round, with both men landing and feeling the other out. Fury, however, took more control as the round went on, breaking through Schwarz’s guard and tagging him multiple times.

Fury started the second round by switching to southpaw, troubling Schwarz early with an uppercut and combination. Fury hit Schwarz from both the inside forcing Schwarz to retreat, but Fury landed from distance as well, busting Schwarz open from the nose. Schwarz tried to fire a combo with Fury’s back to the ropes, but Fury to do his best rope-a-dope to avoid the shots.

Fury then fired a combination that dropped Schwarz late in the round. While Schwarz got on his feet, Fury pressured and trapped him in the corner, landing shot after shot until the ref waved off the fight with just seconds remaining in the round.

After the fight, Fury stated that he would next fight on Sept. 21 or Oct. 5 before an anticipated 2020 rematch with Deontay Wilder for the WBC Heavyweight Championship.

Fury serenaded Las Vegas with a cover of Aerosmith’s “I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing” to end the night.
