Fury Calls Wilder The Best Heavyweight
At Tyson Fury’s press conference in London, many thought the former world champion would attack Anthony Joshua from the word go.
Yet, at Thursday’s announcement for his June 9th return to the ring, Fury claims seeing Joshua ascend to the throne of British boxing has not been frustrating. Fury said: “I’ve got to congratulate the fella, he’s done very well. I hope he makes 10 times more money than he’s already got. It’s not been frustrating at all.”
“I can’t wait to get in there and prove I am the best even after all this time out.”
Fury did say that he believes Deontay Wilder is “top of the pile” in the heavyweight division, but that “they’re all very vulnerable and very beatable too”.
Promoter Frank Warren who orchestrated not only Fury’s ban from the BBoC and UK Anti-Doping being resolved, but now acts as the “Gypsy King’s” promoter, suggested Fury would need “three or four fights” before facing championship level competition.
“He’s going to be busy. He needs to get some rounds under his belt,” Warren said.
“He needs to get himself fighting fit. He’s fit but he needs to be fighting fit.”
