Fury Confirms Next Targeted Opponent

Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) has made it clear that a fight with Anthony Joshua is the target if he beats Arslanbek Makhmudov this Saturday. 

Returning from a 16-month hiatus following his back-to-back defeats to Oleksandr Usyk, the 37-year-old Fury previously admitted that his latest return was spurred by the fatal car accident involving Joshua’s friends in December 2025: “Life is very, very short. I made my mind up there and then I was going to come back… I want to make that Anthony Joshua fight that was supposed to have happened for 10 years.”

Makhmudov (21-2, 19 KOs) represents a massive physical gamble for a 37-year-old coming off a year-long break. A loss here would likely end the Joshua negotiations permanently and force Fury into his sixth (and final) retirement.

“It’s been a massive rivalry for over 10 years. The British public is still baying for it. They still want it desperately. Even if we had a 200,000-seat stadium, we’d sell out 10 times. That’s how big it is over here. I do think I could beat him at any time, whether he was 25, 35, or 95. If everything goes well in this fight on Saturday night, then that’s the fight we’re looking to make next,” Fury said
