Fury Drops Sexton: Wants Wilder & Joshua
After taking a controversial loss against Joseph Parker, Hughie Fury came back with a vengeance with a 5th round knockout of Sam Sexton.
The battle at Bolton’s Macron Stadium, would earn Fury the British heavyweight title in a performance that would see Sexton dropped just before the end of the fourth round. Fury would pounce back with a right hook, dropping the now former champion and forcing referee Terry O’Connor to stop the fight.
“I did everything he said tonight and this fight is dedicated to my dad,” Fury said after the fight, to honor his father/trainer, Peter.
“I was very confident and my body has got so much stronger. I worked my right hand over Christmas and gave a boxing masterclass.”
“I’m dreaming to be a world champion. Whoever has got those belts I’m coming for them. Joshua or Wilder.”
Fury may have a long wait in line, as both Wilder and Joshua are in the midst of very public negotiations, and with Alexander Povetkin, Jarrell Miller, and others waiting for their shot at Wilder and Joshua respectively.
