Fury & Joshua Face-Off For First Time
Tyson Fury (36-2-1, 25 KOs) and Anthony Joshua (30-4, 27 KOs) came face-to-face on Wednesday for the first time as opponents ahead of their December 11 fight at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.
Joshua and Fury have been linked with one another for years, with multiple attempts to finalize the all-British heavyweight showdown collapsing. Negotiations came particularly close in 2021 before an arbitration ruling required Fury to instead face Deontay Wilder for a third time.
The WBA heavyweight title will also be at stake, meaning the winner would become a three-time world heavyweight champion. Joshua previously held unified titles across two reigns, while Fury has also twice been recognized as heavyweight world champion.
“I can tell you the strategy – I’m going to come out and gun him out of there,” Fury said, promising an aggressive approach. “I’m not going to run away, I’m going to throw down.”
Joshua said the prospect of proving Fury wrong would provide additional motivation during his training camp.
“There’s nothing else I expect from [Fury] than to say he’s going to render me unconscious,” Joshua said. “But this is what’s going to keep me running. This is what’s going to make me do the extra rounds in the gym.”
