Fury Vs. Ngannou Confirmed For October 28th, Carl Froch Outraged

Tyson Fury will face former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou on October 28th, 2023, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Speculation had been running rife that a bout could materialize after Frank Warren had confirmed that Fury’s next fight would be a ‘game changer.’

And given that Oleksandr Usyk is set to face Daniel Dubois on August 26th, 2023, the undisputed bout was ruled out.

Ngannou’s intentions to have a boxing bout were clear since his recent PFL deal included an option to box in 2023.

And after Ngannou had a back-and-forth exchange with Fury, sources have now confirmed things are official.

Carl Froch Reacts

In response, Carl Froch has hit out at Fury’s fight with Ngannou. This was on the basis that Fury was not taking on the biggest fights out there.

And that did not go down well with Froch, who was outraged.

“Frank Warren’s just announced Tyson Fury will fight Francis Ngannou, who is an MMA fighter, so it’s another crossover fight – a load of rubbish.

“He’s on about, ‘the game’s changed; it’s going to change the whole sport’. Absolute load of s**t. I don’t like swearing, but it’s a load of s**t. We don’t want to see that fight. We want to see Tyson Fury in there with Usyk,” Froch said

A Fury-Ngannou fight will only go on to delay the chance of a bout with Usyk since it is hardly the ideal preparation for facing a unified heavyweight champion.

However, it may signal Fury’s attempt at leaving the sport of boxing with as many lucrative opportunities as possible without taking the biggest risks.

But the boxing community ultimately pays the price for not seeing the biggest fights. And this was the sentiment being expressed on social media.
