Tyson Fury could reportedly have a rematch clause for his fight with Francis Ngannou.
The WBC heavyweight champion will face Ngannou on October 28th, 2023, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The news pushed back any hopes of an undisputed fight with Oleksandr Usyk, who himself faces Daniel Dubois on August 26th, 2023.
The news of Fury’s bout drew criticism from the boxing community, including Carl Froch, particularly since Ngannou will be making his boxing debut.
And yet, there could be more controversy down the line with news of a potential rematch clause, as confirmed by Ngannou.
“It’s a real fight; it’s going on. The only difference is there’s no title on the line, but it’s a real fight. It’s going on our record. Yeah, there’s a potential rematch clause. For that one, definitely. That’s what I don’t know. We’ll see how it goes.
“That’s why I have to win this fight. I have to put everything to get that rematch. The [WBC] title is not on the line. Well, that is another discussion. It’s going to take a lot inside the WBC,” Ngannou
That did not go down well with the boxing community on social media since it only delayed hopes of a fight with Usyk.

There won’t be a rematch. There’s a reason why it’s considered “unthinkable.”
