Fury Vs. Usyk Could Now Happen In 2024 – Says Frank Warren
An undisputed heavyweight clash featuring Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk may now happen in 2024.
That is according to Frank Warren. The Queensbury promoter’s statement was in reference to Fury’s hard-fought victory over Francis Ngannou. In what was expected to be a routine win for Fury, the former UFC heavyweight champion put on a better-than-expected performance. And the heavy blows on Fury were telling. A left hook resulted in a cut above Fury’s eye in the second round.
In addition, Ngannou dropped Fury in the third round with a left hook and continued to press the action, with some believing he had done enough to win. Carl Froch was very vocal about the decision to give the split-decision win to Fury, claiming it was ‘corruption’ to deprive Ngannou of the victory. Thereafter, Warren expressed doubts about the fight happening on December 23rd, 2023, claiming the Gypsy King would need time to recover.
“Uncle Frank [Warren] says some sneaky things. We have a contract that says the fight has to take place on Dec 23rd. Let Fury vacate his title first, then he can take his rest. Tyson, we must fight, we must do it, Dec 23rd. See you in the ring,” Usyk
Didn’t Tyson say usyk would be sued if it he didn’t fight dec 23. And usyk has said the 23rd dec is the date on the contract and to give up the belt if he can’t make that date? So the wriggling begins from warren and fury
