Fury Vs. Usyk Fight Date To Be Announced – Says Krassyuk
Alex Krassyuk has revealed that Oleksandr Usyk has agreed on a new date, reportedly for February, for his undisputed fight with Tyson Fury, with an announcement expected soon.
The two fighters had agreed on a deal to fight for the undisputed heavyweight championship of the world, with the expectation that it would go ahead on December 23rd, 2023. However, following Fury’s hard-fought win over Francis Ngannou, the Gypsy King refused to confirm if December would still go ahead.
Prior to the Ngannou fight, Fury made it clear that December was the date after suggestions that Usyk may not be ready. So much so that he vowed to sue Usyk since he had signed a contract for that date. However, Frank Warren expressed doubt about the fight happening this year, given that Fury did take some punishment in the Ngannou fight. A left hook in the third round sent the Gypsy King to the floor as he was hit with numerous clean shots. While the fight had been long in the making, boxing fans will now have to wait a little longer.
“In the contract, it was December 23, but it’s a matter of common sense and common reason. If a fighter isn’t ready to go, you cannot make him. We would rather stay flexible, stay relaxed. We have settled already on the new date, and next week, we’re going to announce it; hopefully, of course. Yeah,” Krassyuk
