Fury Vs. Usyk Set for December 23rd – Says Fury’s Representative

Tyson Fury’s representative, Spencer Browne, has revealed that December 23rd, 2023, will be the date for the undisputed heavyweight championship.

The news comes after Usyk had hinted that the fight would occur next year due to the boxer needing a 14-week camp. And since Fury will face Francis Ngannou on October 28th, 2023, there was an expectation that a bout was unlikely to occur in 2023. The timeline would, therefore, have most likely put the fight date in 2024. Although that may have been the case, Browne has confirmed that the bout will occur by the end of the year.

“I can assure you that’s not the case [Oleksandr Usyk not being available for December 23rd due to him needing a 14-week camp. I can categorically tell you that we’re going on the 23rd. So, we’re not bothered about anybody else, really. Why would we be?

“I spoke to his management last night about the situation, and so did Frank & George Warren. We’ve had lengthy conversations. That’s not the case, and we’re full steam ahead for the 23rd [of December]. That’s a great fight, and it’s a good warmup fight,” Browne

However, until a fight date has been announced, there is still someway to go before the fighters get in the ring.
