Fury: Wilder Started Brawl To Have Fight Cancelled

Wednesday’s final press conference for Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury’s battle for the WBC world heavyweight title got a bit out of hand with both fighters getting into a shoving match and Fury ripping off his shirt.

After the dust was settled, Fury claimed Wilder deliberately caused the incident to get out of Saturday’s world title fight at Staples Center in Los Angeles.

“Deontay Wilder needed to do something so he started getting in my face,” said Fury.

“I believe he wanted me to hit today so he could get out of the fight, or get me a massive fine. But I was not going to do that.

“It was a just a load of rubbish really. I’m quite disappointed that it had to come to that sort of stuff, those tactics, at such a high level.

While Fury apologized for both he and Wilder for their “tempers” getting high, Wilder was amped, telling reporters “I can’t wait!”

“He does a lot of talking but now it is time to show it.”
