Gable Steveson Makes History Ahead Of UFC Debut

Gable Steveson (3-0) makes his UFC debut this weekend against Elisha Ellison (5-2-0), and he has already made UFC history before even stepping into The Octagon, as he has become the biggest betting favorite in the promotion’s history, climbing to as much as a -4000 favorite.

This means you would have to place $4000 on Gable to win just $100, whereas the same $100 bet on his opponent could net you $1400 in profit. The numbers surpass the previous record shared by Bo Nickal and Malcolm Wellmaker, both of whom closed at -2500 in their respective fights last year.

Steveson’s odds, which give him an over 97% win probability, make sense considering he arrives to the UFC on the heels of winning all three of his pro MMA bouts by a round one stoppage.

Gable knocked out Braden Peterson in under two minutes in his pro debut, followed that up with a 24-second knockout of Kevin Hein, and added another stoppage win over Hugo Lezama in February.

Meanwhile, Ellison is ranked Number 38 out of 40 UFC heavyweights, making Steveson’s UFC debut an obvious showcase for the 25-year-old Olympic gold medalist and two-time NCAA Division I heavyweight champion.
