Gallagher Added to Bellator 180 in NYC

Bellator is bringing out their biggest names and brightest talents to their Madison Square Garden debut in June. The pay-per-view show (Bellator: NYC) is already stacked with A-listers, and now one of the promotion’s most promising prospects has been added to the Spike TV portion of the event.

James Gallagher (6-0) will fight Chinzo Machida (5-2) in a featherweight bout on the preliminary portion of the event, which will be titled Bellator 180 and will take place before the pay-per-view show begins.

Scott Coker announced the first in a Monday appearance on the MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani.

Gallagher, a product of SBG Ireland where the likes of Conor McGregor rose to fame, has made a lot of noise in his three Bellator fights, racking up three wins and garnering a significant amount of attention. The 20-year-old Irishman has high aspirations, and is clearly being groomed as a future star for the promotion.

Machida is the 40-year-old elder brother of former UFC light-heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida. He has won his only two fights in the Bellator cage, finishing both of his opponents with strikes.

Bellator 180 takes place June 24 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York. The undercard is set to air on Spike TV, while the main card will air on pay-per-view.
