Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney traded insults at the final presser for their May 2 fights, even though they are not fighting each other.
Garcia boxes Rolly Romero for the WBA Welterweight Title in the main event, while Haney takes on Jose Ramirez in chief support. However, Haney and Garcia dominated proceedings as the two sides exchanged insults. They faced off last year when Garcia’s majority decision win became a no-contest after he tested positive for Ostarine. Garcia said he was innocent but received a year ban. The Haneys went after Garcia, saying his physique was not the same due to the absence of Ostarine. They also alleged Garcia’s voice sounded different, fuelling the narrative that he was on PEDs. Oscar De La Hoya even lost his cool as things became heated.
