Ryan Garcia has spoken out against the imposed weight requirements on him by Gervonta Davis for their upcoming fight on April 22nd, 2023.
In order to secure a match with Tank, Ryan (23-0, 19 KOs) accepted two weight-related conditions, along with a reduction in pay. These conditions include a maximum rehydration limit of 146 pounds and a catchweight of 136 pounds.
As a result of these limitations, Ryan may potentially be at a disadvantage in the fight, providing Tank with an improved opportunity to succeed.
In his comments on Bradley Martyn’s Raw Talk podcast, Garcia said: “I’m willing to risk it all going into the ring. There’s nothing more I’m thinking about. I want this more than anything in my entire life.
“I don’t know if he feels the same way. When I hear him talking in interviews, ‘I can’t fight him at 140.’ He’s not ready to give everything. I’m here for a purpose, so I’m willing to give everything. I’m comfortable what will happen in that ring, but he’s not.”
That has not gone down well with those connected to Davis, including none other than Leonard Ellerbe. He dispelled Garcia’s claims that he had been treated unfairly by making sure he knew who was the A-side in the fight.
Just business bro, when you get you a team like Tank then you can call the shots too. Ask your promoter what that feels like, he can tell you all about it. See you soon💪🏾 https://t.co/4XYqnw0NNg
