Garcia Eyes Boots Ennis Or Conor Benn After Haney Victory

After his win over Devin Haney, Ryan Garcia could face Jaron Ennis or Conor Benn

Garcia secured the biggest win of his career, overpowering Haney to win a majority decision. He dropped Haney three times and arguably could have stopped him had it not been for The Dream’s excessive clinching. The referee was also criticized for deeming further knockdowns as slips.

After the fight, Garcia dismissed the idea of a rematch. A Gervonta Davis rematch was mentioned. However, Garcia is unlikely to fight at 140, with a possible move up to 147 since he could not make junior welterweight. Since Davis is a 135-pounder, the fight could only go ahead at a catchweight.

Garcia, however, has said he would be open to facing Ennis or Benn. Ennis, the current IBF Welterweight Champion, is looking to secure a big fight. Since Ennis has signed a multi-year deal with Matchroom, a Garcia fight is much easier to make since they both fight on DAZN.

A fight with Benn could play out since he is also a DAZN fighter. However, Benn can only box outside the UK, given his current legal issues following two failed VADA tests for Clomiphene. Based on his comments, Garcia wanted all the smoke.
