Garcia, Haney, Lopez Trade Words At Times Square Presser

The kick-off presser took place for Ryan Garcia vs. Rolando Romero for Ring Magazine’s first US show on May 2 from Times Square, New York City.

Garcia returns to boxing after his no-contest against Devin Haney last April. His win was overturned following failed VADA tests for Ostarine, as Ryan received a year ban from boxing. Romero was on course to face Garcia before the Haney fight, but he had to face Isaac Cruz instead. Cruz knocked out Romero to become the WBA Junior Welterweight Champion. Romero returned stronger with a win over Manuel Jaimes in his last bout. 

Haney also boxes on this card against Jose Ramirez. The Dream took a year out following the Garcia no-contest, as he takes this fight at 147. Ramirez lost his last fight to Arnold Barboza Jr. A Haney win gives him the chance of redemption, as a Garcia rematch will likely occur in October. Elsewhere, Teofimo Lopez boxes Arnold Barboza Jr. Lopez defends his WBO 140-pound belt, having beaten Steve Claggett in his last fight. It is his first fight under Eddy Reynoso, while Barboza Jr. defeated Jack Catterall to get the title shot. Here were the key moments from the presser.
